Overview
Blast furnace slag is a by-product of iron making, widely used in construction as an aggregate and as a material for base and sub-base layers.
Depending on how it is cooled, blast furnace slag comes either as granulated slag, sand-like with a glassy structure, or as air-cooled slag, which resembles crushed rock. Both forms successfully replace natural aggregates in many applications and reduce the demand on quarried resources.
The slag is supplied in bulk; the size fraction, chemical composition and quantities are confirmed for each order.
Applications
- Road base and sub-base layers
- Fills and embankments
- Aggregate for concrete and mortar
- Raw material for cements and hydraulic binders
- Industrial hardstandings
